Borderlands 3 to Skip E3 as 2K Delays a “Highly-Anticipated” Game to 2019/2020

Eager to get your hands on Borderlands 3? Well, you might be waiting a while. Rumors that Borderlands 3 will appear at this year’s E3 have been circulating for some time, and a recent Walmart leak added fuel to the fire, but it seems the speculation is unfounded – according to Shacknews, a Gearbox Software representative told them and other journalists that Borderlands 3 would be no-showing E3 2018.

Gearbox president Randy Pitchford also shot down the rumors on Twitter, albeit in a somewhat confusing manner. Pitchford rolled out a series of magic metaphors, saying that even if he openly denied Borderlands 3 will be at E3, people will think it’s just a trick, and believe even more strongly in the rumors. Is Pitchford messing with us, or can we just take his statement at face value? Probably the latter, although you never know.

Unfortunately, the bad news doesn’t end there. As part of their Q4 earnings report, 2K Games has let slip that they’re delaying a “highly-anticipated” title into fiscal year 2020 (which runs from April 1, 2019 until March 31, 2020). While 2K doesn’t identify this highly-anticipated game, it’s very likely they’re talking about Borderlands 3…

“A highly-anticipated title from one of 2K’s biggest franchises, which had been planned for release during the current (2019) fiscal year, is now planned for launch during fiscal 2020 to allow for additional development time. We remain as excited as ever about this title, and expect it to enhance our results next fiscal year.”

A Borderlands 3 delay wouldn’t be the most surprising news in the world. Gearbox Software has been keeping a low profile in recent years, and Randy Pitchford has said they won’t release a new Borderlands unless it represents a “really big, worthy” step forward for the franchise.

What are your thoughts on the whole Borderlands 3 situation? Upset about the potential delay? Or would you rather they take the time to get the game right?

MSI Presents Radeon RX MECH 2 Series Graphics Cards

MSI will be releasing a brand new series based on AMD’s “Polaris” Chipset The Radeon graphics based MECH Series, while this may seem that it is founded entirely because of the much maligned GPP from NVidia the fact that this is only for Polaris cards may mean this is just a change in branding.

MSI Shows Off New MECH Series GPUs for Polaris based RX 500 Series

Equipped with a new thermal design, the Radeon RX MECH series should allow for higher core and memory speeds which can also provide increased performance in games. The rather sharp looking MECH series cooler is made more noticeable by a fiery red glow piercing through the cover, while the MSI dragon RGB LED on the top can be set to any of 16.7 million colors to match your mood or build. A completely custom PCB design featuring enhanced power design with Military Class 4 components enables higher stable performance to push your graphics card to the max. A classy matte black metal backplate shows the MECH 2 cards more structural strength and provides a nice finishing touch.

So far we could not see the Mech 2 Series on MSI’s website at time of writing and can’t tell if there will be other cards aside from the 580 shown that are in the release pipeline.

“AMD Radeon has always been committed to the best interest of gamers: a dedication to open innovation such as our contributions to the DirectX and Vulkan APIs, a commitment to true transparency through industry standards like Radeon FreeSync technology, and a desire to expand the PC gaming ecosystem by enabling developers everywhere. It is these values that result in a thriving PC gaming community, and explain why so many gamers continue to rally behind the AMD Radeon brand,”

Scott Herkelman, vice president and general manager, AMD Radeon Technologies Group.

MSI’s award-winning TORX Fan 2.0 is the enhanced version of the patented MSI TORX Fan technology which generates 22% more air pressure for better cooling performance while further reducing noise levels. Connected to the huge heatsink are 6mm thick copper heat pipes with a squared shape at the bottom for optimal heat transfer from the solid nickel-plated copper baseplate combined with Premium Thermal Compound X to keep the Polaris powerhouse cool. This is nice as to my knowledge current MSI Polaris cards do not use TORX 2.0 Fans.

With advanced aerodynamics, the Airflow Control Technology leads more air directly onto the heat pipes of MECH series design. The special deflectors on the heat sink enlarge the surface area, which means lower temperatures and better gaming. Furthermore, MECH series utilizes SuperSU heatpipe design which is the best cooling solution for graphics cards. The GPU is cooled by a massive nickel-plated copper base plate connected to 6mm heat pipes. Additionally, the heat pipe layout increases efficiency by reducing the length of unused heat pipe and a special SU-form design.

The MSI Gaming App allows gamers to quickly switch between OC, Gaming and Silent performance modes, depending on their needs. The latest version of MSI Gaming App features One-click to VR, which instantly optimizes your PC for the best Virtual Reality experience. It also includes host of premium features like EyeRest to improve image quality and Dragon Eye which allows you to watch a YouTube video or stream while gaming. Last but not least, the Gaming App features a LED control tab, allowing gamers to choose from 5 unique lighting modes to set the right ambience for their gaming sessions with just one click.

Availability

The MSI Radeon RX 580 Mech 2 should be available worldwide by the end of July, and more information should be released at Computex next month.

EK Water Blocks, the premium liquid cooling gear manufacturer, is introducing its newest line of popular EK Kits, the Hard Tubing kits. These kits are a great choice for enthusiasts who are looking for a complete high-performance hard tubing liquid cooling solution and don’t want to purchase everything peacemeal. EK-KIT HT240 and EK-KIT HT360 beside the very compatible thin EK-CoolStream SE radiator that they use will also be very suitable for low noise scenarios. As we know, slim radiators benefit from low-speed fans more than the thick ones, and the 120 mm fan format only adds additional cooling surface.

EK Updates Hard Tubing Lineup With HT Series

The EK-KIT HT240 is a complete hard tubing liquid cooling kit dedicated to users who seek top performing market proven components with versatile case compatibility in focus. Designed for cases with limited radiator space in mind, the HT kit is a great choice for liquid cooling enthusiasts who are looking for a complete high-performance hard tubing cooling solution. This kit brings everything you need to assemble your custom liquid cooling loop. You don’t have to worry about compatibility issues or matching the fitting and tubing size. If you are looking for a quick access to the world of premium liquid cooling, this is your entry ticket. The end result is a beautiful looking hard tubing liquid cooling loop that is also ready for a future upgrade.

EK-KIT HT240 and EK-KIT HT360 bring the following components:

The result is an easy installation which brings perfect performance every time.  The EK-CoolStream SE radiator (EK-CoolStream SE 240 and EK-CoolStream SE 360) – offers best cooling capacity in the sub 30mm thick radiator class: copper fins provide massive surface area while the parallel flow cooling chambers reduce hydraulic flow resistance to a minimum. Built for EK-Vardar 120mm high static pressure fans, these radiators are optimized for maximum heat dissipation across an entire fan operational range, thus delivering exceptional performance at both low- and high airflow operation.EK-Vardar F3-120 (1850rpm) – industrial grade high-static pressure computer cooling fan, designed and built primarily for high-performance computer liquid cooling systems. EK-Vardar is simply the best choice for computer radiator cooling as it provides unmatched performance throughout the entire operating range. Two 120mm Vardar fans are included with EK-KIT HT240 and three 120mm Vardar fans are included with EK-KIT HT360.

EK-XRES 100 SPC MX PWM (incl. pump) – is a value-oriented water cooling pump reservoir combo. Co-engineered by EK Water Blocks, it has been designed to lower the production costs yet still offer premium hydraulic performance at the best price. PWM control allows for automatic pump speed regulation depending on your CPU temperature. Full performance on demand or whisper quiet operation in idle mode.

EK-HDC Fitting 12mm G1/4 – Black – is a hard tube compression fitting which also responsible for the name of this kit. Designed for use with solid tubing, the EK-HDC Fitting prevents the hard tube to be pulled out of the fitting by compressing the rubber gasket underneath the ring. The barb is made of nickel plated CNC machined brass while the locking ring is made of black-chrome plated CNC machined brass. Best practice is to gently secure these fittings using the enclosed Allen Key 9mm.

EK-AF Angled 90° G1/4 Black – EK-AF (Adapter Fitting) is a revolvable angled adaptor (90°) with G1/4″ threads. The adapter allows the connection of liquid cooling components and fittings with G1/4″ threads to simplify the tubing routing possibilities in your cooling loop.

EK-CryoFuel Clear – is a specially designed additive for computer liquid cooling systems. It comes in a weight-saving 100mL concentrated form, which just needs to be diluted with 900mL distilled water (not included). The diluted liquid forms a stable non-toxic mixture for your liquid cooling loops and contains all the necessary corrosion, scale, and biological growth inhibitors.

EK-HD Tube 10/12mm – a total of 2 meters of acrylic hard tubing with timeless clarity. EK-HD Tube is solid type extruded acrylic tubing intended for use with the included EK-HDC series compression fittings. The tubing has to be heat treated to achieve desired bends and shapes.

The benefit of this is most of the components are pre-assembled allowing for a quick ans simple installation procedure and is a full custom loop that can still be upgraded with additional GPU blocks, or additional radiators.

EK also recommends you install the EK-HD Tube D.I.Y. Kit 10&12mm and EK-HD Tube Reamer tools. If you are building your first hard tube based loop, EK recommends that you purchase additional EK-HD Tube 10/12mm tubing since hard tube bending can be a trial and error based task. For easier tube routing and more sleek aesthetics, EK EK recommends that you purchase additional angled adapter fittings.

Microsoft Unveils New Xbox Adaptive Controller for Gamers with Disabilities

Microsoft has officially unveiled a new Xbox Adaptive Controller specifically targeted at gamers with disabilities. It will be available later this year for $99.99 exclusively via Microsoft Store and has been years in the making as a ‘passion project’ inside the company.

Head of Xbox division Phil Spencer wrote:

Joining the Xbox family of controllers and devices, the Xbox Adaptive Controller was created to address these challenges and remove barriers to gaming by being adaptable to more gamers’ needs. It was developed in partnership with organizations around the world, including The AbleGamers Charity, The Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Craig Hospital, SpecialEffect, and Warfighter Engaged. We worked closely with them and directly with gamers who have limited mobility to assist in our development. Our goal was to make the device as adaptable as possible, so gamers can create a setup that works for them in a way that is plug-and-play, extensible, and affordable. In addition to working with common adaptive switches that gamers with limited mobility may already own, it has two large buttons built in. These buttons can also be reprogrammed to act as any of the standard controller’s button inputs via the Xbox Accessories app.

To make the Xbox Adaptive Controller a viable solution for the widest possible range of gamers with limited mobility, we’ve worked closely with third-party manufacturers to support external inputs which can be plugged into the new controller. These inputs include PDP’s One-Handed Joystick for the Xbox Adaptive Controller, Logitech’s Extreme 3D Pro Joystick, and Quadstick’s Game Controller. We couldn’t be prouder to have their support in introducing the Xbox Adaptive Controller. More recommended partner devices can be found here.

More information about the peripheral, perhaps including pre-order availability, will be shared during Microsoft’s Xbox E3 2018 Briefing, due on June 10th at 1 PM Pacific Time.
